Are You Worth Your Salt?

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be trodden under the foot of men- Mat 5:13 KJV.

It is recorded in scripture that Sodom and Gomorrah lost their name on earth when God Almighty could not identify at least ten men that worth their salt of righteousness (Gen 18:23-32). Likewise, Samson failed his mission and his nation when his salt of sanctification (separation) was diluted (Judges 16:4-20). Esau sold his salt of great destiny for a day’s meal (Heb 12:16-17). After long years of slavery in Egypt, Achan greed for material things denied him the promise land and even cost the lives of his precious family ( Joshua 7:1, 18-26). For thirty pieces of silver Judas Iscariot lost both his great destiny and soul to the devil.

Today many great destinies are being destroyed; enviable futures are washed away, salts mark for distinction trodden under foot, Kings living like slaves, wise men living like fools, heroes living in fear ( Pro.30:21-23). Christ in Mat.5:13 liken the believer to the value of a salt. In days of old, salt represented a medium of exchange and wages for workers (Ezra4:14 English standards Version). Salt gives taste, and preserves.

Like salt, you are that which give value to your world, continent, country and community (Gen 12:3, Rom 4:16). To “worth your salt “is to walk with God, maintaining integrity. No men walking with God, maintaining his integrity fails his purpose of life. As Daniel, a man with an excellent spirit became a distinguish state man, so you are called to be a distinction in your field of life (Dan.6:3, Isa. 8: 11-18, 41:10, Psm.45:7 Pro.4:18). Your dream is not permitted to crash.

Like salt, preserve your world from hardship, hunger, immorality, dishonesty, ect. Joseph with no history of education applied principles of Resource Managementto save Egypt and the world from famine. With divine wisdom, he knew the solution. You have access to that same wisdom (James 1:5).

The country was in quietness in the days of Gideon (Judge8:28). You can be the cornerstone of peace, quietness and restoration wherever you are.

In Mark 5:1-20, an insane man Jesus restored to sanity wasted no time in positively affecting his surrounding. He went about publishing the word in the Decapolis or ten cities (verse 20). His testimony might have inspired the women with the issue of blood or others who later received their miracles.

Today God is looking for men that worth their salt, men that will stand in the gap on behalf of the nations (Ezekiel 22:30), men that are like Job who defied economic hardship, family tension, and sickness, to keep the worth of his salt. With confidence he said ‘ …… I will not deny my integrity, I will not let go my righteousness ‘(Job.27:2-6).Can you say this with confidence? Are you worth your salt?
